SimpliYoked ("we," "us," or "our") operates the SimpliYoked mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you create an account and use SimpliYoked, we collect:

  • Account information: your name, email address, and password
  • Couple information: your partner's name, your anniversary date, and love language preferences
  • App content: weekly check-in responses, shared tasks, date night schedules, shared notes, spouse reminders, roadmap goals, and retreat plans
  • Photos: photos you choose to attach to a date night or Vision Retreat memory. Adding photos is optional. We access your camera or photo library only when you choose to add one, and we do not scan or index the rest of your library.
  • Communication data: invite messages sent to your partner via email, SMS, or link

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (for push notifications)
  • Usage data: features accessed, frequency of use, and interaction patterns (collected via analytics tools)
  • Log data: IP address, app version, and crash reports

Calendar Access (Optional)

Calendar (optional): if you grant calendar access, the app reads your upcoming events so you can see them while planning your week. These events stay on your device. We never upload, store, or share your calendar data.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the App's features, including real-time data sync between paired accounts
  • Send push notifications for reminders you've configured (spouse reminders, check-in reminders, date night reminders)
  • Send transactional emails (partner invitations, password resets)
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the App (aggregated, non-personal data only)
  • Respond to your requests and provide customer support

We do not use your information to:

  • Sell your personal data to third parties
  • Display targeted advertisements
  • Train AI or machine learning models on your personal content

Data Sharing Between Partners

SimpliYoked is designed for couples. When you pair your account with a partner:

  • Both partners can view and edit shared content (tasks, notes, check-in responses, goals, date nights, roadmap), including any photos you attach to a date night or Vision Retreat memory
  • Personal tasks and individual goal sections are visible only to the assigned partner
  • Love language preferences are shared with your partner to enable the spouse reminders feature

How We Share Your Information

We share your information only with the following categories of service providers, solely to operate the App:

  • Supabase: database hosting, authentication, and real-time data synchronization
  • Resend: transactional email delivery (partner invitations, password resets)
  • Expo: push notification delivery
  • PostHog: product analytics. We send an account identifier, the screens you visit, and which features you use. We do not send the content of your notes, check-in responses, journal entries, or photos.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption
  • Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
  • Database access is enforced through Row Level Security, ensuring each couple can only access their own data
  • Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device
  • Photos are stored in private storage and are never publicly accessible. They are served through short-lived signed links available only to you and your partner, and are deleted along with the rest of your data as described in Data Retention and Deletion below.

Data Retention and Deletion

  • Your data is retained as long as your account is active
  • You can request account deletion at any time through the App's Settings page
  • Upon account deletion:
    • Your personal information (name, email, love languages, personal tasks, personal goals) is permanently deleted
    • Shared couple data (notes, roadmap, check-in history) is retained for your partner's continued use
    • If both partners delete their accounts, all couple data is permanently deleted
  • You can export your data in JSON format before deletion through the App's Settings page

Children's Privacy

SimpliYoked is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Opt out of analytics data collection

Push Notifications

We send push notifications only for features you have explicitly enabled (spouse reminders, check-in reminders, date night reminders). You can manage notification preferences in the App's Settings page or through your device's system settings.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and, for material changes, by sending a notification through the App.
