Make the choice to find the joy of the Lord.

For us, we're currently in the 'new kid' and 'first kid' season. And while there are abundant blessings and joys that come with being parents, there are also challenges. The challenges we learned early on, were that kids meant less time to pour into each other, less time to dive into the word, and less attention we could invest into a message on Sunday morning. And while the shock of this change sometimes made us want to throw our hands up in defeat, we learned instead to press into the changes, and to learn how to make the most of the season we were in.

Date nights transitioned from going out to putting our son to bed early, making a gourmet meal together and playing a game, doing a puzzle or watching a movie together. Morning quiet times changed from coffee in one hand and a Bible in the other, to a baby in our arms while we prayed over him or praised God for the perfect little boy He had given us. And while we're still figuring out the best way to invest in our church, we still show up every week we can.

Nothing in life is black or white, nor does it ever look the same. Our walk with the Lord changes, our relationship with our spouse changes and our commitments and friendships can vary with life. But we have a choice in it all. One option is to give up when our ideal is not met. The other is to be fluid with the season we are in and understand that with every change in life (especially when kids come) joy and abundance can always be found.

Make that choice to find the joy of the Lord in all that you do.
